Check them out and see if there's some meat and potatoes with what I'm saying. with a matching leatherette pen that can be stowed in the elastic pen loop. I recommend, and this is just my belief, toss whatever AV nonsense you have, get WinPatrolPlus, MalwareBytes, & SpywareBlaster, which is some kind of Magic, that doesn't stay in memory neither. This sturdy clipboard is a school essential for keeping documents organized. I've tried other AV programs thinking maybe I'd step up my protection, but only ended up slowing down my system, and/or completely jacking it up altogether. I turned off the junk in Vista, whatever that MS stuff is. and WinPatrolPlus! All I'm saying about that is this: I have No nor have I had ANY Virus Protection program other than WinPatrolPlus (paid version). ClipX along with Keylogger, and you'll always have an instant backup of stuff you've typed, and would be near impossible to remember and a pain in the butt to have to retype. Oh My GOD! Is it a Savior/Hero when it comes to saving stuff like this long review I'm leaving, Periodically, so that if something happens, I won't lose all that I've written. Clip something, saves it, click on the tray icon, a whole friggin' history list of everything I Clipped. It doesn't have some stupid popUp window fancy interface for one to play around with ones clippings, numbering, and sorting, or whatever. This Utility is so Mindlessly EASY to use. In fact, where's the Donation Button?! I apologize for not thinking about that til now. I'm more than Happy to leave a Rating & Review. It's probably one of the Top 3 utilities that I first load to a computer that I'll be working on. I'm not quite sure exactly, all I know is that, it seems I've never been without it. Good Day! I hope All are enjoying a pleasant one. You'll be Sorry, for NOT Finding ClipX Earlier in Your Life, GET IT NOW!. By Anonymous reviewed on December 24, 2014

It takes up just a few megabytes of disk space and uses about 5MB of RAM when idle. SecureAnywhere was and still is a remarkable outlier in AV. McAfee Gamer Security does it all for you.īest portable storage drives | Best SSDs for gaming | Best graphics cardīest DDR4 RAM | Best CPU for gaming | Best gaming motherboards It's great for someone who wants to know they are protected from all the usual bad actors online but don't want to tinker around with any settings. It makes gaming a priority for system resources, mutes notifications, and anything else that would interrupt your fun. McAfee Gamer Security knows when you're in a game, and it will stop anything running in the background as you play. It streamlines the process so you can rest easy, knowing that you can still play Apex Legends without having your performance bogged down with security-related pop-up notifications. Fast-forward to today, and McAfee has made an antivirus specifically for gaming. Chances are, if you bought a PC in the early 2000s, it came pre-loaded with McAfee antivirus software. McAfee has always been a big name in the antivirus world. Like most antivirus programs, the pricing structure for Bitdefender is based on how many years of coverage you want for five or 10 devices. It has its own VPN and improved parental controls if you have a kid who uses your PC. We rarely ever see antivirus programs go the extra mile as much as Bitdefender does. One of our favorite things about Bitdefender is it can scan for any active vulnerabilities: whether that's out of date software, missing Windows Updates, or even woeful passwords, and it presents this in easy-to-read reports. Don't worry, though you still have plenty of control if you want it as well. Autopilot makes all the security-related decisions for you based on your usage patterns, so you aren't bombarded with alerts and notifications. What makes Bitdefender so good is that, once it's installed, it immediately goes into Autopilot mode. While there are plenty of capable antivirus apps on the market, the best antivirus for gaming should do its job without hindering your performance or being too intrusive in your day-to-day use. One hit from clicking the wrong link can be irreversibly devastating if handled incorrectly. It pays to get good protection, what with our PCs containing so much personal data. Dodgy pop-up ads, process injections, phishing emails, and malware are waiting to pounce under the guise of trustworthy-looking sites. The antiviruses of today are much less of a strain on your system than they once were, at least the best antiviruses we've tested and listed here are.Ĭyberattacks are constantly evolving, and the best antivirus will be able to keep up with the onslaught. That way, only if something disastrous is happening will they make themselves known-like a loyal, well-trained guard dog. That said, most of today's top antivirus suites will keep out of the way with the help of 'gaming mode' or something to that effect. I know that sounds harsh, but there's really not much any antivirus can do if you actively install malware onto your machine thinking it's Half-Life 3. Ultimately, it falls on your own common sense to not be clicking on dodgy links or downloading strange packages. Alright, there are some other antiviruses that do the job too, but we really do recommend you enable Windows Defender and occasionally scan with an anti-malware software, like Malwarebytes. You can also push through a stroller here with some determination. It’s a great trail for the non-hikers and families, but I’d recommend it to everyone, because it’s too delightful of a walk to miss. Once you reach the end of the lake, return the same way. Surprisingly, it’s more peaceful than the rockpile, offers lots of fabulous views, and also spots to sit down and soak it all in. The Lakeshore Trail is a 1.5 km easy walk from Moraine Lake Lodge to the end of the lake. But lots of amazing viewpoints await you in this area, each of them are outstanding on their own, and any of them would make your visit to Moraine Lake worth it. If you think you won’t get any better view of Moraine Lake than that from the Rockpile, well, there’s truth to that. It gets busy at the top, but luckily, there’s space to spread out, sit on the benches or on the flat rocks. You cross a bridge, keep right (notice the trailhead for Consolation Lakes on your left) and take the stairs to the different viewing areas at the top of the Rockpile.īecause of the stairs it’s not wheelchair-accessible or stroller-friendly, but even small kids can cope with it (if you have the patience). The Rockpile Trailhead is near the outhouses, and the trail is really rather a walk on a paved/gravel path, with lots of stairs. It’s another 10-15 minutes to hike up to the top of the Rockpile to get that. It’s only a few minutes to walk from the parking lot to the shoreline of Lake Moraine, but that’s not where you find the best view. It’s an iconic view, immortalized on Canada’s twenty-dollar bills: the view of Lake Moraine surrounded by the Valley of the Ten Peaks. What to do at Moraine Lake? If this is the case, yes - RMA or replace the drive. I'd be willing to bet that a look at the "health" tab will show your Reallocated Sectors count is either in the yellow or the red. Windows provides no tools that can display all this data, but something like HDTune can surface this information. The hard drive keeps a count of how many reallocated sectors it's used up. If there are bad sectors, they will be encountered and reallocated from the reserve at this time. One of the functions of a disk format is to mark bad sectors as unusable, but how does this interplay with the reserve sectors mentioned above?īy doing a full (non-quick) format, you force the drive to touch every sector on the disk. When running the Long Generic test, it failed and it suggested running SeaTools Bootable USB diagnostic tool (Linux-based) that checks the health of your drive. When a physical defect on the disk surface is encountered, the drive will silently mark that specific area as unusable and instead write the incoming data to a reserve sector it keeps unused for precisely this occasion. The short version is that modern hard drives tend to not show their bad sectors anymore. What should I do now? Should I still keep using it because it seems to be fine now or should I RMA it and get a repaired/refurbished drive since it is still under warranty? In addition, I used to not be able read the drive at all and it would cause windows disk management, file explorer and sometimes it would cause the bios to hang on my computer. I tested the drive with different software other than seatools to get a second opinion and it passed those tests too. Now the drive somehow can pass any tests I throw at it. All of a sudden after I deleted all the partitions on the drive and reformatted the drive after backing up the data on the drive. When I try to run fix-all fast and fix-all long on the drive to try and fix the bad sectors it fails. I ran these tests from two different computers both from inside Windows 7 and Windows 10 and using sea tool for dos. I could access the data on the drive without any problems. It would however to pass the short generic tests. When it failed tests sea tools would warn me about having bad sectors. The drive used to fail the short drive self-tests and the long generic test. Post the results of the scan in your topic.I have a Seagate SSHD laptop hard drive. Test results are automatically saved in a log file with a file name based on the drive serial number. A log for each device is automatically saved if you have booted from a USB device. Upon completion of running the diagnostics, the test results will be given. The test will indicate either Pass or Fail. Download SeaTools Legacy Tools Use these legacy tools to diagnose hard drives and manage SSDs. Download SeaTools Bootable Use this kit to create a bootable USB that uses SeaTools to diagnose hard drives and monitor SSDs. At any time, feel free to Cancel the test without harming the drive. My question is can you tell me what does the message mean and what type of error is this, and what is the problem with the hard drive. Because this test reads every sector on the drive, the amount of time required will depend on the speed and capacity of the disk drive. I have Seagate hadd (ST3160023A) and when i tested the HDD with SeaTools the program showed the following message: 'Long Generic test - fail'. Long Generic Test scans the entire drive for defects. Select the test you would like to perform on the selected drives. The menus provide an array of diagnostic tests. Select the drives you would like to test.ģ. Microsoft has since announced it is investing billions of dollars in OpenAI and has put its technology to work in its Bing internet search service. Musk cofounded OpenAI but left the company in 2018. Late last year, OpenAI supercharged the interest in AI with its launch of ChatGPT, which can generate natural-sounding text from a short prompt. “You can’t just go barrelling forward and hope for the best.” “He really seemed to want digital super-intelligence, basically digital god, as soon as possible,” Musk said of Page. Musk said he was once close friends with Google co-founder Larry Page, and the two would talk about AI safety deep into the night. The signatories argued that the pause should be used to bolster regulation and ensure AI systems were safe.Ĭritics, however, called the letter a “hot mess” of “AI hype” that misrepresented an academic paper.īig tech companies like Google, Meta and Microsoft have spent years working on AI systems - previously known as machine learning or big data - to help with translations, search and targeted advertising. This is the English transcript of the first part of the presentation (timestamp 47:09 1:24:30), in which Andrej Karpathy and Ashok Elluswamy describe the approach and. Musk’s founding of a rival to OpenAI came several weeks before he joined experts in signing an open letter urging an overall hiatus in the development of AI technology. On 19th August 2021, Elon Musk and the Tesla AI team presented the technical progress in the field of artificial intelligence and answered questions from the audience. He recently merged Twitter with a newly created “X” shell company, keeping the brand name for the platform but not the business. Musk has formed an X.AI artificial intelligence corporation based in the US state of Nevada, according to business documents. He reasoned AI would see people as an interesting part of the universe and decide not to “annihilate humans.” “I’m going to start something which is called TruthGPT, or an absolute truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” Musk said. He said he was also worried that the ChatGPT bot created by startup OpenAI was being taught to be politically correct. The billionaire boss of Twitter and Tesla voiced anew his concerns about the danger of AI, saying it has “the potential of civilizational destruction.” ELON Musk is out to counter Microsoft and Google artificial intelligence efforts with “truth-seeking AI” that shuns political correctness, he said during an interview aired late Monday. Switch to prints, and the S1R keeps noise at bay until around ISO 6400. Panasonic’s S1R showed noticeable to “somewhat disruptive” noise at lower ISOs (through ISO 1600) and “very obvious” noise at ISO 6400 when viewing a 100 percent enlargement on a digital display. How does the fp L compare to other high-res competitors? Sony’s A1 barely contained visible noise in a 100 percent enlargement at ISO 1600 and showed zero noise at any ISO level when viewing its output as a small or large print. By the time you’re at ISO 3200 in this viewing condition, noise was deemed “disturbing.” There was no visible noise on a digital enlargement at base ISO, but there’s barely visible noise by ISO 400. The other 61-megapixel camera on the market, Sony’s A7R IV, fared slightly better. By ISO 6400, noise in this viewing condition is “obvious.” Switch to the more demanding viewing condition of a digital file enlarged to 100 percent, however, and the fp L is showing some visual noise at base ISO. For larger prints, noise doesn’t become visible until ISO 12,800-a very good result. There was no visible noise to be found at any ISO level at this viewing condition. The fp L does an excellent job controlling noise in post-card-sized prints. Sharpening was at its strongest at ISO 100. Image Engineering noted that detail capture was “very good” at the lowest ISO but just “decent” by the time you reach the middle ISO values. While they boast greater resolving power, both the Sony a7R IV and A1 lose it faster than the Sigma as you increase ISO. At ISO 800, 79 percent and 77 percent at ISO 1600. At ISO 400, it’s still resolving 81 percent of its sensor’s theoretical maximum. While it’s not at the top of the pile, the Sigma fp L retains a fair amount of resolving power as you increase ISO. That places the fp L behind other high-res full frames, like the 50-megapixel Sony A1 (96 percent) or the 61-megapixel a7R Mark IV (94 percent) and the 47-megapixel Panasonic’s S1R (96 percent). And so it is with the Sigma fp L, which could resolve 81 percent of its sensor’s theoretical maximum at ISO 100. In lab tests, it’s not unusual for very high-resolution cameras to show lower resolving power as a percentage of their sensor’s theoretical maximum resolution than cameras with lower megapixel sensors. The Sigma fp L: Plenty of Pixels But What About the Resolving Power? You can save camera settings and load them onto other fp Ls, the better for multi-camera shoots. Like the original fp, the fp L has two user interfaces-one for still shooting, the other for filmmaking. It supports USB charging while the camera is on and can double as a webcam. Somewhat uniquely, there’s no mechanical shutter on the camera, just an electronic one.įor filmmaking, the camera can capture CinemaDNG files at 8-,10- and 12-bit color depth. There are 49 autofocusing points, plus face/eye detection and tracking. The camera’s autofocusing system employs both phase and contrast detection. This generous helping of resolution enables a “crop zoom” mode-basically a digital zoom-that can deliver a 5x digital crop during filmmaking that still retains enough resolution for a full HD clip. Unlike earlier Sigma cameras, the fp L doesn’t use the company’s unique Foveon sensor technology but a conventional Bayer image sensor. This year a follow-up to the original fp full-frame mirrorless was released, the Sigma fp L, hailed it as the world’s “smallest and lightest” 61-megapixel full-frame camera. Sigma’s foray into full-frame mirrorless cameras began at Photokina 2018, where it announced its participation in the L-Mount alliance and sketched out an ambitious plan for new cameras and lenses to support the L-Mount. Rangefinder is a member of the Technical Image Press Association, which has contracted with Image Engineering for detailed lab tests of cameras. Recently they put the Sigma fp L under the proverbial microscope and we’ve distilled the results. And the set-up is a classic, although it’s not as well-handled here as it is in another, similar film (more on that later!). The twist ending here seems daft, but if you think about it long enough, it becomes disturbing instead. Sure enough, as soon as the investigators start setting up their bizarre ghost-detecting machines, all sorts of paranormal activity kicks off. Belasco was supposedly an evil murderer, and his spirit is said to still walk the halls of his former estate. The Legend Of Hell House (1973)īased on Richard Matheson’s novel Hell House, The Legend Of Hell House sees a group of psychic investigators moving into the home of Emeric “The Roaring Giant” Belasco. Unfortunately, this time round I wouldn’t recommend picking up the remake, which tries to be terrifying and fails, killing all of the original’s cozy fun in the process. It’s silly, but the dialogue is snappy, and the ghosts are at least original – where else have you seen the spectre of a circus lion and his trainer? The haunted house in this one was left to the Zorba family by their occult-loving uncle, and came fully furnished – with 12 ghosts.Ĭastle loved his gimmicks, and 13 Ghosts is presented in “Illusion-O,” a take on stereoscopic 3D that meant if audiences looked through coloured lenses, they could either amp up the appearance of the ghosts or block them out completely. William Castle’s 13 Ghosts is also relatively light on scares, but it’s so incredibly charming you won’t mind. It wouldn’t be a disaster if you accidentally picked up the 2015 remake, either it’s faithful enough to the original without being slavish about it, and it’s got some decently funny moments thrown in for good measure. If you fancy something spooky that won’t give you nightmares, this might be the one. It sounds terrifying, but since it was produced by Steven Spielberg, it’s actually pretty tame. |
